Manchester United v Arsenal Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
December 03, 2018
Old Trafford - Premier League
Under fire Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho welcomes his old nemesis Arsenal to Old Trafford, in his first Premier League meeting with Unai Emery.
This fixture has produced some crackers in recent season, and United are currently on a two game winning streak against their old rivals. Arsenal last beat United at Old Trafford in Premier League action, back in 2006, thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor's late goal in a 1-0 win.
Manchester United will be without defender Ashley Young, after he picked up his fifth Premier League booking of the season in their draw with Southampton last weekend.
And Mourinho has injury concerns throughout his squad, with Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling all set for late fitness tests ahead of the game, and Antonio Valencia, Victor Lindelof and Mateo Darmian all ruled out.
Arsenal will be without Granit Xhaka, who is serving a one match ban, following his fifth caution of the season, and Mesut Ozil and Nacho Monreal are both likely to miss out through injury.
Manchester United v Arsenal Predictions and Preview
United had to fight back from 2-0 down to secure a draw away at Southampton last weekend, meaning they are without a league win in their last three matches.
Arsenal's 4-2 victory in the North London derby extends their unbeaten run to 19 games in all competitions, as Emery's side came through their second big test in a month, after a draw at home to Liverpool.
Arsenal may sense that give the pressure on Mourinho and the injury problems he has, that this is their best chance to break their Old Trafford hoodoo for some time.
Emery has improved Arsenal's ability to grind out results, and based on their excellent recent run of form, they look set to pick a valuable win - priced at 2/1.
It is likely to be a battle, as games between these two sides normally are, and a goal fest is unlikely given the stakes surrounding the fixture - and with that in mind an under 2.5 total goals scored bet is available at 6/5.
Arsenal to win 1-0 at 12/1
The Gunners look to have more steel about them this season, and they have won four out of their last five Premier League away games. Mourinho is under real pressure at the moment, and results continue to go against United, and Emery knows his side may only need to score one to secure the win.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score first at 7/2
Aubameyang is the Premier League's leading scorer this season, with 10 goals so far in his first full season in English football. He netted a hat trick against Spurs, and he will be full of confidence against what is likely to be a patched up United defence.
