Manchester United v CSKA Moscow Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
December 04, 2017
Old Trafford - Champions League
Manchester United host Russian side CSKA Moscow this week, with the Red Devils needing just a point to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage.
Past Meetings
United won in convincing fashion away in Moscow earlier in this season's tournament, through a commanding 4-1 win.
Prior to that, Jose Mourinho's side are unbeaten in four previous competitive meetings against the Russian side, winning two and drawing two.
Team News
Manchester United will be missing a few first team players ahead of the visit of CSKA Moscow, with Marouane Fellaini still sidelined with a knee injury. The Belgian international is joined on the sidelines by defender Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Michael Carrick.
Vitinho is top scorer for CSKA Moscow so far this season, and despite a disappointing performance when Mourinho's side visited Moscow, he remains the best source of an away goal threat.
CSKA will also call on veterans Sergei Ignashevich, Vasili Berezutsky, Igor Akinfeev and Alan Dzagoev for the trip to Old Trafford.
Manchester United v CSKA Moscow Preview and Predictions
United's late defeat to Basel in their last Champions League game means that their qualification will not be secure ahead of this final group game, much to the irritation of Mourinho.
CSKA have battled their way back in potentially qualifying, but they would need to beat United and hope that Basel lose to Benfica, due to their poor goal difference.
With so much at stake in this game, it is hard to see anything more than an efficient United performance and a home win - priced at 4/9.
Following their late lapse against Basel, United will want to make a statement ahead of their push forward in the Champions League and will look to ruthlessly put CSKA Moscow to the sword on Tuesday night.
United have conceded just one goal in their last five games in all competitions at Old Trafford, and with an attack that has been scoring goals for fun they should have more than enough to see off CSKA Moscow, a United win to nil is priced at 5/4.
Recommended Bets
Manchester United to win 3-0 at 9/1
United will want to get this game sorted with a convincing win and get back to concentrating on domestic matters, as the title race enters a key phase of Christmas. An impressive win over Arsenal last weekend has reignited their spark, and CSKA's ageing team are unlikely to have enough to stop a potent United front line.
Romelu Lukaku to score anytime at 4/5
Lukaku has found himself somewhat out of form in recent weeks, coring just once in his last five United appearances, however against such poor opposition he will fancy himself to get back amongst the goals. He scored twice against them in Russia, only the second time he has done so as a United player, and he will look to unsettle them with his physicality and goal threat.
