Newcastle v Huddersfield Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
February 19, 2019
St. James' Park - Premier League
The Premier League's bottom club Huddersfield head to Newcastle this weekend, with The Magpies looking to ease their own relegation fears.
Rafa Benitez's side won 1-0 away at Huddersfield earlier this season , with Venezuelan international Salomon Rondon scoring the only goal in West Yorkshire.
Both sides collected a 1-0 home win when the faced each other in last season's Championship.
Newcastle have midfield Jonjo Shelvey and Ki Sung-Yeung back in first team training following injury, but they are still lacking in match fitness ahead of this weekend.
Huddersfield should have goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and defender Chris Lowe back in action after he missed the Terriers last game through illness. However Isaac Mbenza and Danny Williams are both still sidelined through injury.
Newcastle v Huddersfield Predictions and Preview
Newcastle are making a real fist of remaining in the Premier League, and they have picked up seven points from an available 12, in their last four Premier League games. Benitez looks to be capable of steering the club away from relegation this season, despite the lingering long term concerns over his future at the club.
The writing looks to be on the wall for Huddersfield in terms of relegation, bottom of the league table and 14 points adrift of safety, their relegation fate looks to be already sealed. It is only a matter of time before their return to the Championship is confirmed, and they look ill equipped to deal with a pragmatic Newcastle side.
It is very hard to look past anything other than a home win in this clash - and it comes in at a profitable price of 3/4. Jan Siewart has made Huddersfield a tougher proposition to play against, but they still struggle to score goals - and a Newcastle to win to nil bet is at 8/5.
Newcastle to win 1-0 at 5/1
The Magpies are well aware that points are all that count at this stage of the season, and a victory in this game could lift them as high as 13th in the Premier League table ahead of the end of season run in.
Salomon Rondon to score first at 19/5
Neither side have found goals easy to come by this season, however the on loan Rondon is the closest that either side has to a recognised striker in the Premier League. He netted in the meeting between these two sides earlier this season, and he has six goals in the league so far in 2018-19.
