Newcastle v Watford Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 30, 2018
Vicarage Road - Premier League
High-flying Watford head to Newcastle this weekend, in an tie between two sides experiencing contrasting fortunes in the Premier League in 2018-19.
Watford have an excellent recent record against Rafa Benitez's side, with the Hornets winning their last five games against them in all competitions, a run stretching back to 2010.
Watford should be boosted by the return of skipper Troy Deeney, who sat out last weekend's win over Huddersfield with a hamstring injury. However, Craig Cathcart, Daryl Janmaat, Tom Cleverley and Nathaniel Chalobah are all still sidelined through injury.
Newcastle will have defender Ciaran Clark back in their squad, but fellow defender Florian Lejeune and Ayoze Perez are both still out of action with long-term injuries.
Watford v Newcastle Preview and Predictions
Watford eased past Huddersfield last weekend, with a convincing 3-0 win, picking up their sixth Premier League victory of the season in the process.
Newcastle's miserable start to the season continued with a 0-0 draw away at Southampton, with Benitez's side now without a win in their first 10 Premier League games of the season.
The wildly contrasting confidence levels of both squads will be decisive in this clash, and that only steers this prediction towards a Watford win - priced at 9/5.
Despite their poor form, Newcastle are battling for their manager and their Premier League status, despite the early stage of the season, and they showed flashes of their ability in the game against Southampton - and three weeks ago in their defeat to Manchester United.
With that in mind, they will make this difficult for Watford. They have only conceded five goals in their last five games, and an under 2.5 goals bet is at 4/6.
Watford to win 1-0 at 15/2
The Hornets will want to keep their impressive run of form going, even if a more battling performance is needed to pick up all three points than in their last two games. As for Newcastle, their winless streak looks set to keep going, as the pressure mounts on boss Benitez.
Roberto Pereyra to score first at 7/2
Argentinian midfielder Pereyra has scored in back-to-back games for Javi Gracia's team, including a strike inside the first 10 minutes against Huddersfield last weekend. He is also Watford's top scorer so fat this season, with five goals in Premier League action.
