October 01, 2019
Carrow Road - Premier League
Norwich City play host to Aston Villa this weekend, in the first clash of newly promoted side in the 2019-20 Premier League season.
Norwich beat Aston Villa home and away last season as they won the Championship title, with 2-1 victories at Carrow Road and Villa Park.
The Canaries have won their last four home league games against Villa.
Norwich have no update on the growing injury crisis, with Alex Tettey, Mario Vrancic and Ben Godfrey are all still another two weeks away from a return - with another eight first team players sidelined.
Villa boss Dean Smith will make a late check on the fitness on Wesley, Tyrone Mings and Henri Lansbury, who are all recovering from minor injuries., with James Chester and Jonathan Kodja still out.
Norwich City v Aston Villa Preview and Predictions
Norwich's form has slipped following their memorable win at home to defending champions Manchester City, with back-to-back Premier League defeats to Burnley and Crystal Palace. Daniel Farke is having his hand forced by injury, and he will be up against it again this weekend, as he looks to avoid seeing his side drop into the relegation zone for the first time this season.
Villa are also struggling for form ahead of their trip to Carrow Road, with no win in their last four Premier League games, and just one Premier League victory so far this season. Smith's side have found it hard to close out games this season, conceding late on in their last two games, against Arsenal and Burnley, to drop a potential six points in the process.
Given the respective form of the two sides ahead of this game, it is likely to be a tight game in East Anglia, with both sides in need of points - and a draw, priced at 13/5, could be the best way to go. Goals have not really been an issue for either Norwich or Villa in recent weeks, with two or more goals scored by Villa in their last three games, and one in three for Norwich.
With that in mind, goals should be on the cards, and a BTTS bet is available at 4/9.
A 1-1 draw at 13/2
Norwich know they cannot afford to lose many more points, particularly at home, if they do not want to be drawn into a early season relegation battle. Villa are in a similar situation, but their goal scoring form indicates they are moving in the right direction.
Teemu Pukki to score anytime at 10/11
Pukki has been the main man for Norwich so far this season, with six Premier League goals so far for the Finland international. He has not scored in his last two games, but he will be hoping to score against Villa after netting against in last season's Championship title battle.
