Norwich City v Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
January 03, 2018
Carrow Road - FA Cup
Chelsea travel to East Anglia for the FA Cup Third Round, as Antonio Conte's side make their bow in the competition this season.
Chelsea have a strong recent record against Norwich, winning five of their last six meetings, alongside a solitary draw against The Canaries.
Norwich's last win over Chelsea came back in 1994, via a 3-0 Premiership win.
Conte is likely to use this competition to blood some young players and give fringe first team players some much needed game time ahead of the second half of the season.
David Luiz and Charly Musonda are both back in training and could be set to start as they look to regain match fitness. Ethan Ampadu, Michy Batshuayi, Danny Drinkwater, Kenedy and Davide Zappacosta could also all feature for The Blues.
The main injury concern for Norwich boss Daniel Farke is over on loan midfielder Harrison Reed, who is struggling with a hip problem. Norwich do have some top flight experience within their ranks, including Grant Hanley, Wes Hoolahan, Cameron Jerome and Russell Martin.
Norwich City v Chelsea Preview and Predictions
Chelsea are in good form in recent weeks, and they are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions. Whereas Norwich are in an inconsistent run of form, winning just three of their last thirteen Championship games.
Despite being away from home, this should be routine for Chelsea - with an away win and a place in the fourth round draw priced at 4/9.
Even with Conte set to rest players for this game, the defending Premier League champions should be more than capable of putting Norwich to the sword with ease.
Norwich's clean sheet record is poor in recent weeks, and Chelsea have netted ten goals in their last five games in all competitions and have conceded just one.
Chelsea to win the game and keep a clean sheet is priced at 6/4.
Chelsea to win 3-0 at 9/1
A second string Chelsea, still including international players, should be able to plot a straightforward passage into the fourth round, leaving Norwich to concentrate on stabilsing their League form.
Michy Batshuayi to score first at 11/4
Despite not being a regular this season, Belgian international Batshuayi has scored some important goals so far, with key strikes against Atletico Madrid and Watford. He should get a full 90 minutes against Norwich and a chance to prove himself to Conte.
