NY Red Bulls v San Jose Earthquakes Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
July 17, 2017
Thursday July 20 – Red Bull Arena – Major League Soccer
NY Red Bulls welcome San Jose Earthquakes to New York on Thursday, with both sides stuck in mid table and looking to get their seasons back on track.
Previous meetings between these two sides split them right down the middle in terms of form. NY Red Bulls won 2-0 back in April 2015 at home, and a year later San Jose Earthquakes won by the same scoreline at home.
Both sides have injury concerns ahead of this one, with hosts NY Red Bulls still missing a number of first team players through long term injuries.
Defender Gideon Baah is out for the rest of the season with a broken leg and midfielder will also miss rest of the campaign after undergoing knee surgery.
Aurelien Collin is back in first team training, but the defender is still some way from returning to action following a hamstring injury.
San Jose Earthquakes also have a number of long term absentees, striker Quincy Amarikwa and defender Marc Pelosi are both out for the season due to knee surgery.
Fellow defender Harold Cummings is out as he recovers from a thigh surgery and and Marvell Wynne is still far away from a return after undergoing pen heart surgery earlier this season.
Midfielder Fatai Alashe is on the comeback trail from a knee injury, but he is unlikely to be ready for Thursday.
NY Red Bulls v San Jose Earthquakes Preview and Predictions
NY Red Bulls have been plagued by inconsistency in recent weeks, winning three and losing two of their last five MLS games. They have not recorded back-to-back wins in the MLS since April 2017, when they won three in a row.
San Jose have also struggled to put together a steady run of form recently, winning two out of their last four games, and without a win on the road since beating Dallas in May.
All signs point to a draw in this one, with neither side able to achieve the consistency they need to climb the table, and a draw is priced at 2/7.
Both sides have been scoring goals, with both only drawing a goal scoring blank in two of their last seven MLS games, so an over 2.5 goals bet should be a good option, priced at 21/20.
NY Red Bulls win 2-1 at 7/1
Home advantage should be enough to just sneak NY Red Bulls a win on Thursday, and could be a springboard for their season.
Both teams to score at 4/5
San Jose Earthquakes will have enough attacking power to cause their hosts problems, and get on the score sheet.
