Qarabag v Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 20, 2017
Tofik Bakhramov Stadium - Champions League
Chelsea go to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag on Wednesday, knowing a win will guarantee their progress in to the Champions League's last 16.
The game between these two at Stamford Bridge earlier in the group stages was the first competitive meeting between the two sides.
Chelsea ran out emphatic 6-0 winners that night, with goals from Pedro, Davide Zappacosta, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi and an own goal from Maksim Medvedev.
Chelsea's main injury concern is over Michy Batshuayi, who is unlikely to recover from an ankle injury in time for this game, with Alvaro Morata set to lead in the Chelsea attack in Azerbaijan.
Midfielder Victor Moses is sidelined until December with a hamstring problem, as is Charlie Musonda with a calf problem.
Qarabag, who have only scored twice in the group stages so far this season, via Pedro Henrique and Michel, are likely to play a defensive line up to quell the Chelsea threat and look to that pair to get on the score sheet.
Qarabag v Chelsea Preview and Predictions
Chelsea are in excellent recent form, losing just one of their last seven games in all competitions - against Roma - and they will want to secure the progress into the last 16 with a game to spare.
The attacking threat of Morata, Pedro, Willian and Eden Hazard should be far too much for the Azerbijan side, and a Chelsea win could be a formality on Wednesday night.
An away victory, which would seal Chelsea's progress, is currently priced at 3/10.
Qarabag do not appear to have anything to trouble Chelsea with, in defence or attack, and an efficient performance from Conte's side should be incoming on Wednesday night.
Goals are also set to be on the cards, with Chelsea in fine form in front of goal recently - netting six goals in their last four games and Qarabag only picking up points against an out of sorts Atletico Madrid - and over 2.5 goals bet looks a smart option, priced at 8/11.
Chelsea to win 3-0 at 7/1
Despite comfortably winning the 'home' leg of this tie earlier this season, Chelsea will not find it as easy in cold conditions in Azerbaijan. However they should still have enough to secure a win with a little to spare, and confirm their Champions League progress.
Alvaro Morata to score first at 5/2
Morata has been the main man for Chelsea this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions so far in 2017-18, However he has just one goal in Europe so far, against Atletico Madrid, and he will want to boost that on Wednesday night.
