Scotland look to overturn a losing streak that has seen Steve Clarke's side lose three consecutive games, including one against Thursday's opponents Russia. The hosts are enjoying very different form, and are unbeaten in five games, with their last defeat coming against an impressive Belgium team.

The home leg didn't end positively for Scotland, despite an opening goal scored by John McGinn. Russia soon got back into the game with goals just before half-time scored by Artem Dzyuba before an own-goal from Stephen O'Donnell lost Clarke's side the game.

Stanislav Cherchesov is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that beat Scotland when the sides last met, meaning starts for Aleksandr Golovin, Artem Dzyuba and Yuri Zhirkov.

Ollli McBurnie has dropped out of the Scotland squad through injury, and has been replaced by midfielder Stuart Armstrong. This could see debutant Lawrence Shankland start the game, as the only representative of Scotland's second league within the squad.

Russia v Scotland Predictions and Preview

Scotland travel to Russia on Thursday, knowing that a defeat will damage their chances of play-off qualification to the 2020 European Championship. Steve Clarke's side sit in fourth place in the Group I table below front-runners Belgium, opponents Russia and Kazakstan and Cyrus.
