Ružomberok v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
July 31, 2017
Thursday 3 August – Stadion MFK Ružomberok – Europa League Qualifying
Everton still have it all to do as they travel to northern Slovakia to face Ružomberok, as they try to qualify for the Europa League proper. The Premier League side struggled to break down the visitors in the first game at Goodison Park, and will take a slender advantage into the second leg.
Last week’s game was the first meeting between the teams. Everton toiled against the European minnows, taking 65 minutes to break the deadlock. Leighton Baines’ deflected effort from 20 yards proved to be the only goal of the game.
New Everton signing Sandro Ramirez made a huge difference when he came off the bench in the first leg. The young Spaniard’s arrival meant Wayne Rooney thrived in a freer role, so Ronald Koeman could hand him a start. Jordan Pickford waits for his Toffees debut, while Koeman could call on the experience of Phil Jagielka and Gareth Barry for this one.
Ružomberok come into the game after a 4-0 win the Slovak Super Liga at the weekend. 21-year-old Dominik Kružliak helped himself to two goals, but his job will be to keep the Toffees’ attacking threat at bay on Thursday. It’ll come down to the likes of Nermin Haskic and Miloš Lačný to steal a goal for the hosts.
Ružomberok v Everton Preview and Predictions
Defeat for Everton would be a huge embarrassment for the Merseysiders, especially considering the money spent this summer. After a dogged performance at Goodison though, Ružomberok are still very much in this tie.
The Slovak outfit have previous for coming back from behind. This is their third stage of qualifying for the Europa League, and they lost the first leg in their two previous rounds. They will of course start as major underdogs in the betting, and are as long as 17/2 with some bookmakers.
Koeman has a huge squad to choose from now, shown by the strength of the bench in the first leg. These are the kind of games that Rooney’s experience will be vital in, and the returning forward has a great chance to prove his worth.
This game is likely to be a cagey affair, so don’t bet on too many goals flying in. Unless Everton score early, it could be a long night for the Toffees. They’re odds-on favourites to pick up the win though, and you can back them at 4/9. If you think the hosts will battle their way towards a respectable draw, that’s available at 15/4.
Rooney to score in an Everton win at 6/5
The former Manchester United man kicked off his Old Trafford career with a stunning European performance. The boyhood Evertonian would love to do the same again for the Blues.
Ružomberok to win to nil at 12/1
If the home side manage to pull off a shock victory, this is likely to happen. With so many new faces in the side, Everton could struggle to gel once more.
