Serbia v Brazil Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
June 23, 2018
Otkrytie Arena – World Cup Group E
Brazil and Serbia meet in the final match of Group E in Moscow with knockout stage qualification still up for grabs for both teams. The Selecao will progress with a point but will want all three as Switzerland try to finish above them. Meanwhile, Serbia must beat Brazil to ensure a place in the round of 16.
Serbia and Brazil have met only once in an international match. Their one and only encounter came in the run-up to the World Cup finals four years ago, with Brazil winning 1-0 in Sao Paolo. Striker Fred scored the only goal of the game.
Brazil have admitted that star man Neymar is still not completely match fit, but he’ll start again in Moscow. Full-back Danilo missed the win over Costa Rica with a thigh injury but could return in place of Fagner on the right side of the defence. Serbia’s squad is free of injury and suspension.
Serbia v Brazil Preview and Predictions
It hasn’t been a classic Brazil-like tournament so far from Tite’s men, with the Selecao being held by Switzerland and having to wait until injury time to beat Costa Rica. But a point in their final match will make certain of their place in the last 16 and the odds are in their favour. Brazil haven’t lost a competitive match for two years now and have only conceded twice in their last ten matches. They’re at 8/15 to win.
Serbia’s chances have taken a real blow after their last-gasp loss to the Swiss. They most likely now need to beat Brazil, which can be backed at odds of 7/1, but few will be tempted by that price. Mladen Krstajic’s side have kept only two clean sheets since November. The draw is at 33/10.
Brazil’s Neymar got his tournament scoring tally up and running with a goal late on against Costa Rica. He’s at 14/5 to net first on Wednesday. But it’s his team mate Philippe Coutinho who has taken most of the plaudits so far, scoring in both of the Selecao’s matches. He can be backed at 9/2 to break the deadlock.
Brazil to win to nil at 13/10
Brazil have an excellent record of keeping clean sheets and with so much at stake on Wednesday, back them to keep out a Serbia attack which is reliant on Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Philippe Coutinho to score anytime at 8/5
Having already grabbed two goals in Russia, the Barcelona man will be keen to add to his account and outshine Neymar again.
