January 24, 2018
Bramall Lane - FA Cup
Sheffield United host Preston on Saturday in an all-Championship edition of the FA Cup fourth round. The Blades have the edge in league standing, but the Lilywhites enjoyed a hefty win in the last round and will be full of confidence.
Preston very much have the edge in recent history, including the most recent edition at Deepdale stadium, in which a Jordan Hugill won the game for Alex Neil's side. The two sides also clashed three years ago in yet another fourth round FA Cup match, which saw the match replayed following a 1-1 draw with Preston as the home side, before the Lilywhites won 3-1 at Bramall Lane.
Striker Ched Evans and defender Kieron Freemon are both nearing returns, and could feature this weekend after lengthy spells out. Chris Wilder will also have the option of playing new signings Ricky Holmes, Ryan Leonard, James Wilson and Lee Evans, who are all eligible.
Calum Woods is out for Preston as is Darnell Fisher with calf and hip injuries. Paul Huntington is in with his second start following two weeks out injured.
Sheffield United v Preston Predictions and Previews
Chris Wilder may be nervous of this fixture, sitting just four points above his weekend opponents in the league, and with just one win in six against Preston. Having started the season in fantastic form, Sheffield suffered through a poor spell towards the end of the year, going six games without a win.
It seems, however, that the Blades have recovered from this difficult period, and are currently four games unbeaten, including an away win over Norwich in their last game.
Likewise, Preston went through a spell of seven winless games, roughly before Sheffield suffered the same fate. Having broken their duck, the Lilywhites are on the back of a thirteen game spell in which they've lost just one. A large reason for this is forward Jordan Hugill's recent tendency for scoring in the last minute, having won the game for Preston with his last three goals. The forward is 2/1 to score against Sheffield.
Sheffield United have a killer forward of their own, with Leon Clarke the leagues joint top scorer on fifteen goals. The English striker is 7/5 to score anytime on Saturday.
Jordan Hugill to score last at 5/1
The forward has scored in extra time with each of his last three goals.
Leon Clake to score first at 7/2
The Championship's top scorer will be keep to hold the title on his own.
