St. Mary's Stadium - Premier League
Premier League title challengers Liverpool head to Southampton this weekend, with Jurgen Klopp's side looking for consecutive wins.
Liverpool won home and away against the Saints, winning 3-1 on the south coast, before beating Ralph Hasenhuttl's side 3-0 at Anfield.
The Reds have won their last four games against Southampton, and are unbeaten in their last six meetings with them in league action.
Hasenhuttl should have a clean bill of health for the visit of Klopp's side, with striker Danny Ings shaking off a minor knock from the first weekend of the season, and he should be fit to face his former team.
Liverpool will be without goalkeeper Alisson for the trip to the St. Mary's Stadium, after he was ruled out for a month with a calf injury, with new signing Adrian set to fill in. Klopp could also look to bring forward Sadio Mane back into the side, after a substitute appearance against Norwich City last weekend.
Southampton v Liverpool Preview and Predictions
The Saints suffered a horror start to the new Premier League season, losing 3-0 away at Burnley, with Hasenhuttl's side unable to cope with a second half blitz from the Clarets. Hasenhuttl may look to shuffle his pack for the visit of Liverpool, Sofiane Boufal, Pierre Hojbjerg and Michael Obafemi all pushing for a starting place in this weekend's clash.
Liverpool started the Premier League season with a statemented 4-1 victory at home to newly promoted Norwich City, with Klopp's side leading 4-0 at the break at Anfield. Klopp knows that his side need to start the season strongly, and maintain a winning mentality for the entirety of 2019-20, if they are to push Manchester City for the title - and that continues this weekend.
Liverpool's opening day showing, alongside Southampton's struggles at Turf Moor, indicate that this game should be a strong option as an away win - priced at 4/11. The Reds have enjoyed their recent meetings with the Saints, scoring six in their last two games, and they look on form in attack already in 2019-20. With that in mind, Liverpool to win and over 2.5 total goals scored comes in at a price of 10/11.
Liverpool to 2-1 win at 15/2
This will not be a walkover for Liverpool, as their first game of the season was, with Southampton desperate to salvage some pride following their loss at Burnley. However the visitors should have more than enough to keep their momentum going into the second week of the season.
Mo Salah to score first at 3/1
The Egyptian has enjoyed facing the Saints, following his 2017 arrival at Anfield, with five goals in four appearances against the South Coast club in the last two seasons. He also kicked off the season with a goal against Norwich last weekend.
