Southampton v Watford Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 06, 2018
St.Mary's Stadium - Premier League
Struggling Southampton welcome Watford to the South Coast this weekend, as they look to end their miserable Premier League run of form.
Watford won 2-0 away at Southampton last season, and drew 2-2 at home, with midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring in both games for Javi Gracia's side.
However Southampton did exact some revenge, by winning 1-0 in their FA Cup Fourth Round clash.
Southampton should be able to welcome back striker Charlie Austin, who has returned to training following a shoulder injury. He missed their defeat to Manchester City, but Mark Hughes will be hopeful he can call on the former QPR man.
Watford have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to south, with long term absentees Daryl Janmaat, Troy Deeney, Tom Cleverley and Sebastian Prodl all still sidelined.
Southampton v Watford Predictions and Preview
Hughes' side are really struggling at the moment, with no win in their last six Premier League games, compounded by a 6-1 hammering away at Manchester City last weekend.
They are saved from the relegation zone by the equally poor form of other sides in and around the relegation battle so far this season, but that will be little comfort to Hughes.
Watford suffered a shock defeat away at Newcastle last weekend, on the back of successive Premier League wins, and Gracia will be looking to get his side back on track.
They had the better of the game against Rafa Benitez's side, and it is likely to be a blip on the road for what has been an impressive start to the season for Watford - and an away win is at 19/10.
Ayoze Perez's goal was the first Watford have conceded in their last three matches, and they generally keep things tight at the back, and with that in mind a Watford win to nil at 15/4.
Watford to win 1-0 at 8/1
Gracia will want points, and he will not be too concerned with the score line, as he seeks to push Watford higher and higher up the Premier League table. Whilst Southampton look set to endure more misery, as the pressure continues to mount on manager Hughes.
Roberto Pereyra to score first at 5/2
Pereyra has been in excellent form so far this season, leading the way as Watford's top scorer, with five Premier League goals so far in 2018-19. The Argentinian has also netted two goals in his last three appearances for Gracia's side.
