Southampton v West Ham Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
December 24, 2018
St. Mary's Stadium - Premier League
Southampton host West Ham on December 27, with Ralph Hassenhuttl looking to continue his promising start as Saints manager.
The Hammers comfortably beat Southampton 3-0 at home last season, with The Saints winning 3-2 in the earlier fixture on the south coast.
West Ham have a lengthy injury list to contend with ahead of this clash, with Fabien Balbuena, Jack Wilshere, Marko Arnautovic, Winston Reid, Ryan Fredricks, Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini all sidelined.
Southampton will be without midfielder Pierre Hojberg, who serves a one match suspension after collecting his fifth booking of the season. Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand both face fitness tests, but they should shake off minor knocks.
Bournemouth v West Ham Predictions and Preview
The Saints are won 3-1 away a Huddersfield last weekend, collecting back to back Premier League wins for the first time this season. That result makes it two wins out of three games following the appointment of the Austrian in November, as Southampton look to fight against relegation.
The Hammers unbeaten run came to an end in their last game, losing at home to Watford, preventing Manuel Pellegrini's side from making it five wins in a row.
However their away record remains in strong shape ahead of this game, with two wins and two draws in their last four Premier League games on the road.
West Ham will want to stabilise following that loss, and will look to put in a performance at the St. Mary's Stadium, and a draw, priced at 5/2, could be a great option.
Both sides have been scoring goals in recent weeks, with Southampton netting six in Hassenhuttl's first three games and West Ham scoring five in their last three matches.
With that in mind, goals should be on the cards here, and on over 2.5 total goals scored bet comes in at 8/11.
A 2-2 draw at 12/1
Both sides are looking to keep a generally solid run of form going, and this should make for an entertaining clash,as an addition to a nine game Boxing Day schedule. Attack has been the best form of defence for both sides in recent weeks, and this could be a thriller.
Danny Ings to score first at 5/1
Ings has been key for Southampton within their new regime, scoring three goals in his last two games. The former Burnley striker, currently on loan from Liverpool, has scored eight goals in all competitions so far this season, and he will look to push into double figures in 2019.
