Sporting Kansas City v Montreal Impact Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
June 07, 2017
Saturday 11 June – Children’s Mercy Park – Major League Soccer
Sporting Kansas City will look to equal their team record of seven successive home wins by beating lowly Montreal Impact. Having gone to the top of the Western Conference by beating Minnesota, Kansas can strengthen their position.
While the sides tied in their last meeting in Montreal, at Kansas the home side have won three of the last four clashes. Dom Dwyer has scored seven times against Impact including the winner against them on their last visit to Kansas.
International call ups leave both sides without key players.
Sporting could be without several men including Graham Zusi and Matt Besler although controversially USA boss Bruce Arena allowed Besler to play for injury hit Sporting last weekend. Kansas are buoyant with Ike Opara, Jimmy Medranda and Saad Abdul-Salam all having hit their first goals of the season against Minnesota.
Montreal will be without Blerim Dzemaili, who having got his first MLS goal with the winner against New York Red Bulls last weekend has been called up by Switzerland. Impact’s main hopes of denting Sporting’s four-game home shut-out record will be the in-form Argentinian schemer Nacho Piatti.
Sporting Kansas City V Montreal Impact Preview and Predictions
Western Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City will look to cement their place at the head of the standings but it won’t be easy against Montreal Impact who despite their lowly position have won three of their last four games and have only been beaten on the road once since the opening game of the season.
Four companies are offering 23/10 on Kansas winning but Montreal scoring to end Sporting’s run of four home games without leaking a goal.
Kansas will aim to capitalise on Montreal’s tendency to be slow starters. Against Minnesota last weekend Sporting started aggressively with 17 first half efforts, the highest by any MLS team so far this season. Bad luck and good goalkeeping kept Kansas waiting until the stroke of half time for an opener against Minnesota, but an early goal here could leave Montreal with a tough task to come back against a side who haven’t conceded a goal at home for four games. Indeed the only two goals conceded at home by Sporting this season have been final minute consolation goals when games were already won.
You can get 11/2 on Kansas scoring in the opening 10 minutes.
Kansas to win with both teams scoring at 23/10
In form and with home advantage, table-toppers Kansas must be favourites for victory but City’s defence must be breached sometime and missing key personnel this may be the week something has to give.
Kansas to score in the first 10 minutes at 11/2
The combination of Sporting registering an MLS high of the season so far with 17 first half efforts and Montreal being infamously sluggish starters makes this an appetising price for an early success.
