Stoke City v Watford Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
January 29, 2018
Bet365 Stadium - Premier League
Victory for Stoke at the Bet365 in this midweek fixture would see the Potters draw level on points with Watford, who currently lie in tenth place. With two new managers in the dugouts in the form of Paul Lambert and Javi Gracia, this is a crucial game for both sides.
Darren Fletcher scored the only goal of the game as Stoke beat Watford at Vicarage Road earlier this season. That was the Potters’ fourth consecutive victory over the Hornets, with Watford’s last success in this fixture coming at the Bet365 just over two years ago.
New Stoke boss Lambert almost has a fully fit squad to choose from, with Glenn Johnson the only doubt ahead of this tie. Jese Rodriguez remains absent due to personal reasons, but it looks as though the Spaniard has played his last game for the club.
Gracia meanwhile has walked into a disastrous situation concerning injuries. Troy Deeney, Tom Cleverley and Heurelho Gomes could all make a comeback in this game, but the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah, Miguel Britos, Will Hughes, Isaac Success, Craig Cathcart and Younes Kaboul all miss out.
Stoke City v Watford Preview and Predictions
This is a wonderful opportunity for Stoke to not only pull clear of the drop zone, but to drag a team that were flying high just a matter of weeks ago right back down into the relegation dogfight. If the Potters want to continue their stay in the Premier League, they surely have to win games like this.
Lambert’s reign in the Potteries got off to a perfect start as his new side beat Huddersfield 2-0 in their last outing. With no FA Cup games to sidetrack the players, the Scottish manager has had a great chance to work with his squad as he tries to ingrain his ways on them. Stoke have the ability to put together a run of wins in quick succession, and they’re priced at 13/10 to make it two in a row on Wednesday.
Watford meanwhile are 5/2 to avenge their defeat at home against Stoke at the end of October. The change of manager couldn’t produce a cup win at Southampton over the weekend, and the Hornets have lost their sting after losing nine of their last 13 games. A draw wouldn’t be the worst result for the visitors, and this is priced at 13/5 in the betting.
Both teams to score at 3/4
These two have conceded 94 goals between them already this season, so there’s a great chance of both teams getting themselves on the scoresheet.
Allen to score and Stoke to win at 10/1
The Welsh playmaker opened the scoring against Huddersfield in the Potters’ last game, and could be a threat once again.
