Swansea City v Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 31, 2017
Liberty Stadium - Premier League
Even though it’s early in the season, this is a huge game for Swansea as they hover above the relegation zone and welcome Brighton to the Liberty Stadium.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams for eight years, when Swansea beat Saturday’s visitors 3-0 in the League Cup. Garry Monk was on the scoresheet that day, and as he’s since retired, managed the Swans, been sacked and taken over at two other clubs, it’s fair to say that plenty has changed in the intermittent years.
Paul Clement’s cause is hardly being helped by a number of injuries that are restricting his options. Big name duo Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony are both expected to miss Saturday’s game, while Angel Rangel, Leon Britton and Kyle Bartley are also injured. Martin Olsson meanwhile faces a late fitness test on a hamstring problem.
Chris Hughton has few such headaches to worry about, with Brighton boasting the cleanest bill of health in the Premier League. Steve Sidwell is the Seagulls’ only absentee, but the 34-year-old couldn’t get in the team even before injuring his back at the start of September.
Swansea City v Brighton Preview and Predictions
With a number of strong teams residing in the bottom half of the table, this is an important game for Swansea against a side that could get dragged into a relegation fight. Brighton will have other ideas as the Premier League newcomers look to continue their impressive start to the season.
You’d expect the likes of Everton, West Ham, West Brom and Stoke to start picking up points sooner rather than later, so Swansea cannot afford to let a gap open up between some of the more likely candidates to get pulled down towards the drop zone. Their passing style will be tested against the team in the bottom half with the best defensive record, but the Swans still start this game as 5/4 favourites in the betting.
Brighton have exceeded expectations so far, but with the busy Christmas period approaching their squad will face the sternest of tests in the coming months. If the Seagulls can inflict a seventh defeat of the season on their hosts, they’ll be on 15 points already and in a great position to tackle the winter schedule. Hughton’s side start the game at a pretty tempting 3/1 for the win, while the draw’s priced at 23/10.
Tammy Abraham to score anytime at 15/8
The young striker is in great form at the moment, and is likely to lead the Swansea line once again on Saturday.
Brighton to win to nil at 5/1
The Liberty Stadium has seen just four Swansea goals in six games across all competitions this season, making this a good way to enhance your odds on the away win.
