Swansea City v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips & Previews
May 02, 2017
Saturday 6 May – Liberty Stadium – Premier League
After securing an impressive point at Old Trafford, Swansea continue their fight for Premier League survival against Everton on Saturday. Paul Clement’s side go into this one full of confidence after their performance against Manchester United, but the Toffees start the game as favourites in the betting.
Everton needed a late Seamus Coleman goal to claim a point at Goodison Park earlier this season, after Gylfi Sigurdsson had put Swansea into the lead. The Toffees had never lost to Swansea until 2014, but since then have failed to beat the Welsh outfit in their last six meetings.
Jefferson Montero could miss the rest of Swansea’s fight for Premier League survival, after injuring his hamstring against Manchester United. The Ecuadorian has missed five months of the season so far, and last just six minutes at Old Trafford. There’s no chance of Wayne Routledge returning from his hernia problem just yet to replace him.
Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin will return this season, after the midfielder missed last weekend’s defeat against Chelsea. He remains a doubt for the trip to Swansea, where Everton continue to miss big names like Yannick Bolasie, Seamus Coleman, Ramiro Funes Mori, Aaron Lennon and James McCarthy.
Swansea City v Everton Preview and Predictions
Paul Clement has brought massive improvements to Swansea since replacing Bob Bradley in January. After looking like they were doomed, the Swans now have a great chance of staying in the Premier League. Visitors Everton meanwhile are secure in seventh place, which brings them European football next season.
Swansea’s relegation rivals Hull host Sunderland just before this game, meaning Clement’s side could find themselves five points adrift of safety by kick off. It couldn’t be bigger for the Swans, with only two games left after this one. Lose and the Championship beckons.
However, they’re priced at 20/11 to win, and go into their last two games with huge hope. A trip to Sunderland and West Brom at home on the last day of the season are both very winnable. Considering Hull go to Crystal Palace before playing Tottenham, a draw wouldn’t be the worst result for Swansea. This is priced at 5/2.
For Everton, there’s not much left to play for this season, apart from places for next term perhaps. With a Europa League campaign on the horizon, Koeman will look to significantly strengthen his squad in the summer. The Toffees still go into this one as favourites though, and are available at 8/5.
Sigurdsson to score only goal in 1-0 Swansea win at 40/1
Swansea’s scorer against Everton earlier this season bagged a sublime free kick against Manchester United last Sunday. The Icelandic international has big moments in him, and what a moment a winner in a tight game against Everton would be.
Lukaku to score only goal in 1-0 Everton win at 28/1
Toffees hitman Romelu Lukaku might have something to say about that though. The big Belgian is favourite to finish the season as the top goalscorer ahead of Harry Kane, and could help to end Everton’s hoodoo against Swansea.
