Swansea City v Huddersfield Town Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 10, 2017
Liberty Stadium - Premier League
Struggling Swansea welcome Huddersfield to South Wales this week ,with the Terriers continuing to adjust to life in the top flight.
Saturday's game will be the first time these two sides have faced each other since 2008, when both of them were in League One. The 2007-08 saw a 1-0 away win apiece for the two clubs, but Huddersfield have the better overall recent record- winning the previous two games against the Welsh club.
The main injury concern for Swansea boss Paul Clement will be over the fitness of South Korean international Ki Sung-yeung, who has only recently returned to first team training. Sung-yeung was a key man for the Swans last season, but he has struggled to stay injury free during this campaign.
One out of Leon Britton, Sam Clucas, Roque Mesa are likely to step into midfield for the game this weekend.
David Wagner has a number of injury concerns ahead of his side's trip to Wales, with fitness tests set to be carried out on a number of players.
Strike pair Collin Quaner and Steve Mounie are both back in first team training following calf and heel injuries, although match fitness is a concern for both players, but given their struggles to score in recent games at least one of them could get a recall.
Defender Michael Hefele is out until November with an Achilles injury, an he is joined by Kasey Palmer on the long term injury list, with the Chelsea loanee sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Summer signing Danny Williams is back in light training after fracturing his foot earlier this season, but he is only fit for light training at the moment.
Swansea City v Huddersfield Town Preview and Predictions
Both sides are really struggling for form recently, with Swansea are without a win in their last four Premier League games- including three defeats against Newcastle, Watford and West Ham. They have not won a game at home this season, with their only victory coming away against rock bottom Crystal Palace in August.
Huddersfield started the season well, but their form has tailed off in recent games, and they are now without a win in their last five Premier League games, including defeats to West Ham and Tottenham.
This game looks to have a draw written all over it, and with confidence low at both clubs, and a draw priced at 9/4 looks to be an interesting option.
Goals have been in very short supply for both teams in the last few weeks, as they have struggled to pick up points, Huddersfield have netted just one goals in their last five Premier League games and Swansea have scored once in their last four games in the League.
With that in mind, an under 2.5 goals bet - priced at 7/5 - should be a very safe choice in what is likely to be an uneventful clash.
A 1-1 draw at 6/1
Both sides are in real need of picking up some points to stop their worrying recent form, and a clash against a fellow struggling side will give them an opportunity to get some confidence back. Neither side look to have the capability to really do enough to score enough to secure a convincing win, and they should cancel each other out.
Aaron Mooy to score anytime at 27/5
Australian midfielder Mooy has been the creative hub for Wagner's side so far this season, with his passing and goal threat a real feature of their play. His winning goal against Newcastle was the last time the West Yorkshire club picked up three points this season and he will be a threat to a shaky Swansea defence.
