Swansea City v Leicester City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 17, 2017
Liberty Stadium - Premier League
After failing to climb out of the relegation zone at home against West Brom on Monday, Leicester face Swansea at the weekend. Meanwhile the Swans moved above the Foxes with their win over Huddersfield on Saturday.
In this fixture last season, Swansea ran out 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Alfie Mawson and Martin Olsen. However, Leicester won four in a row before that, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one. There hasn’t been a goalless draw between these two in over 60 years, while 11 of the last 12 meetings have ended in a home win.
Having sat out Swansea’s weekend victory, both Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony could return to the side after minor problems. Bony may have to settle for a place on the bench though, with Tammy Abraham and Jordan Ayew looking good together up top.
For the visitors, Robert Huth continues to miss out with a foot problem. Luckily for Craig Shakespeare, summer signing Harry Maguire’s slotted in at the heart of the Foxes defence alongside Wes Morgan in the absence of the big German.
Swansea City v Leicester City Preview and Predictions
With so much quality spread throughout the Premier League, games against your closest rivals are hugely important. There’s a lot riding on this game, between two teams with contrasting styles. Expect Swansea to have plenty of possession as Leicester try to do their damage on the break.
After losing their first three games at the Liberty this season, Swans boss Paul Clement would’ve been relieved to see his side finally pick up a home win last time out. There’s a chance to follow it up with another straight away, and they’ll have in-form Tammy Abraham leading the line. The youngster’s taken to regular Premier League football like a Swan to water, and has already notched four goals in eight games.
Leicester are without a win in their last six league games. Despite a late Riyad Mahrez equaliser, the draw at home against West Brom wasn’t a good result. The Foxes struggled to make their possession count as the Baggies made them play in an unfamiliar way, but this won’t be the case at the Liberty where Swansea like to keep the ball.
If you think Leicester’s countering attacking style will see them claim the points, the away win’s priced at 17/10. The bookmakers are struggling to call the game, with Swansea available at 15/8 and the draw at 23/10.
Abraham to score in Swansea win at 3/1
Bet on the lively Chelsea loanee to add to his brace at the weekend by netting in a Swansea victory.
Swansea to win to nil at 18/5
Back Leicester’s winless run to continue with a bet that would’ve paid out in six of the last nine meetings between the two teams.
