Swansea City v Tottenham Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
March 13, 2018
Liberty Stadium - FA Cup
Tottenham head to south Wales this weekend looking to keep their quest for silverware under Mauricio Pochettino on track for this season.
Tottenham have an excellent record against the Welsh side, unbeaten in all 14 Premier League meetings between the two sides.
Pochettino's side drew 0-0 at Wembley Stadium and won 2-0 in Wales in the Premier League already this season, with former Swans
player Fernando Llorente and Dele Alli scoring in that game,
Swansea will be without striker Jordan Ayew, who starts a three game ban after his red card last weekend at Huddersfield. Leon Britton is back in training following an injury and could make a start as manager Carlos Carvalhal shuffles his pack for the FA Cup.
Renato Sanches is unlikely to be risked, and Leroy Fer, Wilfried Bony and Angel Rangel are all likely to miss the remainder of the season.
The big news for Tottenham is that star striker Harry Kane is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, with Llorente set to step in.
Danny Rose, Ben Davies and Alli are all struggling with minor knocks and Pochettino will make a late decision on them, with Serge Aurier and Harry Winks on standby to start.
Swansea City v Tottenham Preview and Predictions
Swansea's focus is firmly set on remaining in the Premier League, with the Swans currently in 14th, four points above safety and Carvalhal's selection will reflect this.
Tottenham will also be focusing on their own league campaign, and securing a top four finish, and Pochettino may rest a few of his big names, however he is mindful of the growing pressure for his side to win a trophy.
Spurs should just edge this, with their fans demanding silverware to back up Pochettino's improvements at the club, and they are 2/5 to progress to the semi-finals.
With Kane, and potentially Alli, absent for the visitors they may not be as free flowing as they have been in recent weeks. Pochettino's team have netted 14 goals in their last five games - but this game may be low key.
Spurs will just want to progress, and an under 2.5 goals bet is 5/6.
Tottenham to win 2-0 at 5/1
Spurs will be anxious not to fall at this hurdle and end the season without at least a semi-final appearance in any competition they have played in. Swansea have performed well in the FA Cup under Carvalhal, but they could be distracted by important matter in the Premier League.
Heung Son-Min to score first at 7/2
The South Korean international has been in brilliant form in recent games, scoring six goals in his last four appearances. He is could play centrally in the absence of Kane, only increasing his goal threat to Swansea.
