Swansea City v Watford Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 19, 2017
Liberty Stadium - Premier League
Goals have been in short supply in recent Premier League games between Swansea and Watford but they rained down at Vicarage Road last week. Unfortunately, they were all flying into the Hornets’ net.
There have only been three goals in the last four meetings between Swansea and Watford. Only one of the last 10 meetings in all competitions between the clubs has produced more than two goals. Last season’s meeting at the Liberty Stadium was a goalless draw with the Swans winning Watford’s previous visit 1-0.
Watford have Miguel Britos banned as he completes a three match suspension. They also have five players receiving treatment for injuries – the joint most in the Premier League. Mauro Zarate and Younes Kaboul look likely to be out while there are doubts over the availability of Sebastien Prodl Craig Cathcart and Tommy Hoban
The Swans are hoping Kyle Bartley and Ki Sung –Yueng are able to return to training but Nathan Dyer is still a week away at least.
Swansea City v Watford Preview and Predictions
Swansea are 7/5 to win with Watford 41/18 and the odds on a draw 12/5 and while Swansea faced Reading in the Carabao Cup in midweek Watford have had their feet up with a full week to prepare.
Unfortunately for the Hornets they’ve probably also had their heads in their hands after a record 6-0 home hammering by Manchester City and probably won’t be too pleased to see former City striker Wilfried Bony line up against them. But Bony’s only Premier League goals in the end of 2015 came against the Swans, when at Manchester City and then Stoke City, and indeed three of his last four goals have been against them. Bony is 9/2 for the first goal.
Tammy Abraham, meanwhile, is 4/1 to open the scoring, and Jordan Ayew is 28/11 to score at any time and 6/1 to score first. The much vaunted Renato Sanches needs to put in an eye-catching performance and with Gylfi Sigurdsson no longer at the Liberty Stadium to supply the ammunition the on-loan Bayern Munich man has the responsibility to set up the Jacks in the box.
Wilfried Bony to end his goal-drought at 9/2 for the first goal.
The returning hero is overdue a goal and three of his last four have been against Watford.
The game to be goalless at 9/1
After their Man City mauling Watford will have been working on their defensive organisation and with this fixture usually featuring few goals a 9/1 bet represents good odds.
