Tottenham v Fulham Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
August 14, 2018
Wembley Stadium - Premier League
Tottenham host Fulham at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, in what was supposed to be their only game at the national stadium. However, delays to their new ground mean Spurs could be playing under the arch plenty more times this season.
Tottenham have won six of the last seven games between the two teams, including a 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage the last time they met. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in that FA Cup game last year, which bodes well for the England captain breaking his August curse this weekend.
Son Heung-min is unavailable for Spurs after heading to Indonesia for the Asian Games, while Lucas Moura is recovering from an injury that kept him out of Tottenham’s opener. Kieran Trippier also missed the game against Newcastle, but could be in contention for this one.
Slavisa Jokanovic has doubts over Tim Ream and Joe Bryan, who are both struggling with injury. New signing Alfie Mawson is out for another few weeks, while Denis Odoi serves the final game of a suspension after he was sent off in last season’s play-off final.
Tottenham v Fulham Preview and Predictions
Even though the delays on their new stadium are hardly ideal, Tottenham should have no problems playing at Wembley after last season. Their opponents on Saturday, Fulham, splashed the cash over the summer, and there’s plenty of hope that they’re going to serve up some exciting football this term.
Tottenham, of course, became the first Premier League side to not sign a new player since the transfer window was introduced, but they still have one of the best players in Europe leading the line for them. Harry Kane has never scored in August, despite making 14 appearances in the month during his career. Surely he’s going to break his duck at some point, and he’ll fancy his chances against Fulham after his hat-trick last time.
Spurs are the 3/10 favourites in the betting, while Fulham are priced at 12/1. The Whites had a disappointing return to the top flight in losing 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace, but their new signings have had another week to get used to each other in training. Even so, it’s going to be a tough ask against this Spurs side, so a draw wouldn’t be the worst result for the Cottagers, and that’s priced at 5/1.
Kane to score first at 11/5
The England captain will surely break his duck in August sooner rather than later, and there’s a good chance he’ll do so by breaking the deadlock on Saturday too.
Fulham to win to nil at 25/1
If Kane’s August drought continues then Fulham have a much better chance of keeping a clean sheet. Long odds on them winning to nil, but stranger things have happened.
