Tottenham v Huddersfield Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
March 01, 2018
Wembley Stadium - Premier League
Tottenham host Huddersfield on Saturday, looking to build on their FA Cup win over Rochdale, in a busy month for the London club. Huddersfield seem to have recovered from a poor winter, and have three wins in their last four games.
Tottenham won the reverse fixture 4-0, as a brace from Harry Kane in addition to goals from Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko saw Spurs comprehensively beat their weekend opponents.
Mauricio Pochettino may decide to rest Jan Vertongen, in anticipation of his side's match against Juventus just three days later. With Toby Alderweireld yet to hit top form, his fellow Belgian will be vital for the Champions League tie.
Huddersfield are still without Aaron Mooy, who has been out since early February, joining Jon Gorenc-Stankovic, Elias Kachunga and Sean Scanell on the injury list.
Tottenham v Huddersfield Preview and Prediction
The games are coming thick and fast for Spurs at the moment, who have four matches within 13 days starting with their game against Huddersfield.
Having overtaken Chelsea into a Champions League spot, maintaining their position in the league will be of great importance to Pochettino, although his highest priority will be the match against Juventus. This could see a number of players either rested or not fielded for a full 90 minutes on Sunday.
David Wagner will be hoping that Kane will be one such player, as the England forward has been utterly unstoppable for Spurs this season. Without their top-scorer, the North London club have looked underwhelming, and, against a resolute Terriers side, may struggle to break them down.
Wagner's team appears to be on the up, and managed a win over West Brom in their last match to dispel memories of their defeat to Manchester United. January signing Alex Pritchard has been a revelation for the side, and has more than made up for the absence of creative lynchpin, Mooy. With a goal and an assist from his last two matches, the Englishman's dribbling will pose a threat to Spurs back line.
Harry Kane to score first at 2/1
The forward is having a head-to-head with Mo Salah at the moment for the Premier League golden boot.
Tottenham to win both halves at 7/5
Pochettino will want to get the job done, and if they score early will draw Huddersfield out.
