- Grant Whittington

Wembley Stadium - Premier League

Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham host Newcastle this weekend, looking to boost their top four aspirations as the season enters its final third.

Past Meetings

Tottenham won 2-1 at St. James' Park earlier this season, with Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli scoring inside the first twenty minutes to secure the win.

Spurs have won their last three games against Rafa Benitez's side, whose last win against the North Londoners came back in 2016.

Team News

Tottenham are definitely without Harry Kane, Alli and Ben Davies for this clash but midfielder Moussa Sissoko should be fit to return follow a groin injury picked up in their midweek win over Watford.

Son Hueng-Min returned from international duty and scored on his immediate return to the starting XI against Watford, he finished the game with cramp, but he should be passed fit.

Newcastle should be able to welcome back Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame and Paul Dummett from injury. However Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot, Ki Sung-Yeung and Joselu all still sidelined and Yoshinori Muto away at the Asian Cup.

Tottenham v Newcastle Preview and Predictions

Spurs dug deep to beat Watford in their last game, after trailing 1-0 until the final ten minutes of the match, with Son and Fernando Llorente grabbing the goals. Pochettino's side have won three of their last four Premier League games, and they have lost just two games at Wembley in their last ten home appearances.

Newcastle pulled off a huge shock in their lat game, beating Newcastle 2-1 on Tyneside, giving them back to back league wins for the first time November. Benitez's side have struggle on the road in 2018-19, with just two away wins in all competitions so far this season, the last of which coming on November 26th.

Even with their injury concerns at the moment, Tottenham should have more than enough to seal a win and push their objectives for the end of the season - with a home victory at 2/7. Newcastle have improved on the goal scoring front in recent weeks, scoring in five of their last six games in all competitions, and a BTTS bet is priced at 21/20 in this game,

Recommended Bets

Tottenham to win 2-1 at 15/2

Newcastle do still have one eye on avoiding relegation, but they have shown plenty of promise in 2019. Tottenham have their eyes on the much bigger prize of Champios League qualification at the end of the campaign, and they need three points here to keep their momentum going.

Son Hueng-Min to score first at 15/4

Son returned from the Asian Cup, with South Korea, and immediately made the difference against Watford. He has two goals in his last three Premier League appearances, and 13 goals in all competitions so far this season.
