Watford v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
February 20, 2018
Vicarage Road - Premier League
Watford welcome Everton to Vicarage Road on Saturday, with just four points separating the two sides in the Premier League table. The hosts are looking over their shoulder with just four points to the drop zone, while the Toffees have their sights set on a potential Europa League place.
Everton have won their last two games against Watford, although the Hornets did record a 3-2 victory when the teams met at Vicarage Road last season. That win is their only one in their last 11 games against the Toffees, although that run does stretch back to the late Eighties.
Javi Gracia has had a nightmare injury lost to contend with since taking charge of Watford, but the lack of FA Cup action will do his team some good. The likes of Kiko Femenia, Younes Kaboul, Tom Cleverley, Miguel Britos and Will Hughes are nearing full fitness, while Nathaniel Chalobah and Craig Cathcart are getting closer to a return.
Everton also have plenty of players on the sidelines, but there’s finally some good news on Leighton Baines. The left-back returned to full training on a warm weather camp in Dubai, but Eliaquim Mangala could be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Seamus Coleman has a muscle problem which isn’t expected to be a long-term issue.
Watford v Everton Preview and Predictions
Two teams that can’t seem to put a decent run together will meet on Saturday, with Everton looking for their third straight win against Watford. Neither side have won more than two games in a row in the Premier League all season, but the visitors need to improve on their away form if they want to put that right.
Watford’s stunning victory against Chelsea is their only win since Boxing Day, but the unlikely success over the champions was swiftly followed up by a defeat against West Ham last time out. Both of these teams have had an extra week off thanks to the FA Cup fixtures over the weekend, giving Hornets boss Javi Gracia more time to get to know his players as he prepares to take charge of his new team for the fifth time.
Everton are looking for only their second Premier League victory of the season away from Goodison Park, as they bid to close a two point gap to seventh placed Burnley. Sam Allardyce will have been please with the reaction after the heavy defeat at Arsenal, with the Toffees seeing off Crystal Palace in their last game.
The home side start the game as slight favourites in the betting at 11/8, while Everton are priced at 12/5. The Toffees have drawn five on the road this term, and at 12/5 also this could be worth a shout on Saturday.
Both teams to score at 13/16
There will be plenty of talented attackers on the pitch at the weekend, while both of these sides have only been involved in two goalless draws apiece this season and average more than a goal a game.
Gerard Deulofeu to score the only goal of the game at 40/1
The former Toffee has signed for Watford on loan from Barcelona for the rest of the season, and was brilliant against Chelsea. It’d be some story if he bagged the game’s only goal on Saturday.
