Watford v Stoke City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 24, 2017
Vicarage Road - Premier League
High flying Watford host Stoke City this weekend, with Marco Silva's side is excellent form, despite last weekend's loss to Chelsea.
Despite Watford's recent good run, Stoke have an outstanding recent record against the Hornets, winning three out of their last four Premier League meetings with them.
They won home and away, 2-0 and 1-0 respectively, last season, with Watford last win over Stoke coming back in October 2015.
However they have not beaten Stoke at Vicarage Road since 2006, when both sides were playing in the Championship.
Watford boss Silva has a huge injury list to contend with ahead of the visit of Stoke this weekend, however many of those absent have been out of action for some time.
Defensive pair Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Prodl are both back in light training following hamstring problems, however neither player is match fit enough to play this weekend.
Knee injuries have been Watford this season, and Isaac Success and Nathaniel Chalobah both ruled out until December, and Tommy Hoban and Craig Cathcart until 2018.
Midfielder Roberto Pereya will have a thigh injury assessed later this weekend, with Silva expected to make a late decision on him.
For Stoke, Tom Edwards and Xherdan Shaqiri will both face late fitness tests on ankle injuries ahead of this game. However defender Bruno Martins Indi will be out until November with a calf strain.
Watford v Crystal Palace Preview and Predictions
Watford have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, losing just once at home to Manchester City so far, and rising to sixth in the Premier League table. Silva's impact since arriving at the club in the summer has been a huge lift, and a hard fought 2-1 win in their last home game against Arsenal shows just how far they have come.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes is under some pressure at the moment, winning just once in their last seven league games and dropping down to seventeenth in the table in the process.
The Hornets are on upward curve at the moment, and they should be able to see off a limited Stoke side - with a home win priced at 11/10.
Both sides have shown good goal scoring form in recent games, even struggling Stoke have scored in four of their last five Premier League games, with Watford netting scoring eight goals in their last five games.
This should be relatively entertaining between two sides with attacking threat at their respective disposals, and an over 2.5 goals bet is priced at 21/20.
Watford to win 3-1 at 18/1
Silva has got Watford playing some excellent football this season, with pace and verve going forward through Richarlinson, Troy Deeney and Abdoulaye Doucoure, and they have turned Vicarage Road into a tough place to visit. Stoke are going through a bad patch at the moment, and they may struggle to live with Watford on Saturday.
Richarlinson to score first at 5/1
Brazilian Richarlinson has been a star for Watford following his summer move from Fluminese, scoring three goals already in the Premier League this season. His speed and skill will cause Stoke problems if they are unable to deal with his threat from out wide.
