Vicarage Road - Premier League
Rock bottom Watford host West Ham this weekend, looking to get their Premier League campaign up and running after two consecutive defeats.
Both sides won their away leg of the reserve fixture between each other last season, with West Ham winning 4-1 at Vicarage Road, and the Hornets winning 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Watford boss Javi Gracia has no new injury concerns ahead of their third game of the 20192-20 Premier League season, with long term absentees Adalberto Penaranda and Tom Dele-Bashiru both still out of action for the home side. Summer signing Ismaila Sarr is not yet ready to be included in the first team squad, as he looks to improve his match fitness.
West Ham skipper Mark Noble missed the first two games of the season with a calf problem, but he is expected to return for the trip to Vicarage Road this weekend. Summer signing Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson both missed last weekend's draw at Brighton, and should also come back in.
Watford v West Hame Preview and Predicitons
Watford's season could not really have started much worse, as they sit bottom of the Premier League table after two games played for Gracia's side. A 3-0 defeat on the opening day, at home to Brighton, followed by a 1-0 loss at Everton last weekend has dented confidence at the club. Gracia will be determined to turn things around as soon as possible, and they have an ideal chance this weekend, against a Hammers side that has also suffered an indifferent start to the new season, both at home and on the road.
Manuel Pellegrini's side were hammered 5-0 at the London Stadium, on the opening day, by defending champions Manchester City - and they laboured to a 1-1 draw away at Brighton last weekend, and were fortunate not to lose. Neither side is full of confidence, with West Ham arguable having a bit of an edge, but Gracia could be in real trouble if hie loses three in a row, so a more sensible option for this clash may well be a draw - priced at 5/2.
Goals have been at a premium for both sides, as you would expect given the early season form, with one goal between them in four games, and with that in mind, and under 2.5 total goals scored bet is available at 11/10.
A 1-1 draw at 6/1
Watford know they need to get some points on the board to avoid drifting away from the pack too early in the season. Gracia proved in 2018-19 that he can make Vicarage Road a tough ground to get results for visiting sides and he will hope to do the same this weekend.
Troy Deeney to score anytime at 5/4
So many times the Watford captain has been the one they can rely on in difficult situations, and they will need his leadership and goal scoring abilities against the Hammers, if they are going to get a positive result for the first time this season. He also has a strong record against West Ham, with three goals in his last five appearances against them.
