West Brom v Newcastle United Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 27, 2017
The Hawthorns - Premier League
West Brom and Newcastle meet at the Hawthorns on Tuesday evening, with the teams coming into the game off the back of very different results at the weekend. Temporary Baggies boss Gary Megson secured an impressive point against Tottenham, while the Magpies suffered an embarrassing defeat at home against Watford.
Things have been relatively even between these two over recent years, with each side winning two of the last five meetings. Both teams won their home game against each other 1-0 the season before last, with Newcastle spending last term in the Championship. Darren Fletcher settled the first game in Albion’s favour while Aleksander Mitrovic was the match winner in the return.
Although Megson will be keen to stick with the players that earned him a point at Wembley, he may feel the need to hand out the odd rest. 36-year-old Gareth Barry could be given a break with an important game against Crystal Palace coming up at the weekend, which would give a chance to Claudio Yacob or Grzegorz Krychowiak.
Rafa Benitez meanwhile has Isaac Hayden available again after he was suspended on Saturday. The Newcastle boss will miss his captain Jamaal Lascalles once again though, as the defender continues to recover from an ankle injury. Paul Dummett and Christian Atsu are also expected to be absent for the visitors.
West Brom v Newcastle United Preview and Predictions
This is a huge game for West Brom as a win by two goals would see them leapfrog Newcastle in the Premier League table. If the visitors leave the Hawthorns with all three points though, they’d move six points clear of their fellow strugglers.
Alan Pardew revealed his interest in taking over at West Brom at the weekend, and he’s a strong contender for the job. As his prospective club take on his former side, he’ll be hoping that the Baggies don’t lose further ground. With plenty of strong sides in and around the drop zone, whoever ends up taking charge will need to have as many clubs in sight as possible.
After losing four games in a row, the Magpies have been dragged down into a relegation fight. With so much uncertainty around the club, Newcastle’s supporters will hope to put an end to their poor run before the busy Christmas schedule kicks in. They start as underdogs in the betting for this one though, priced at 12/5. West Brom are available at 29/20 to pick up the win, while if you think the game will end in a draw it’s 11/5.
West Brom to win to nil at 27/10
Newcastle have only scored once in their run of four consecutive defeats, although that was to take the lead at Old Trafford. Still, they’ve only managed 11 goals in 13 Premier League games so far.
Newcastle to win from behind at 17/1
Back the visitors to show some character as the ever-impressive travelling support inspire their team to a comeback victory.
