West Brom v Swansea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
April 03, 2018
The Hawthorns - Premier League
Rock bottom West Brom host Swansea this weekend, after sacking manager Alan Pardew earlier this week, as they look to fight Premier League relegation.
Past Meetings
Swansea won 1-0 against West Brom at the Liberty Stadium back in December 2017, with Wilfried Bony netting the winner that day.
The Baggies last beat Swansea in December 2016, with Venezuelan international Salomon Rondon scoring a hat trick in a 3-1 victory for the home side.
Team News
There will be late fitness tests for three West Brom players ahead of this huge game for both sides, with Gareth Barry, Nacer Chadli and Daniel Sturridge all set to be assessed ahead of kick off.
James Morrison and Sam Field are both already ruled out through injury.
Jordan Ayew is still out for Swansea as he serves the final game of a three match suspension, and he Welsh side are missing five first team players due to injury.
Sam Clucas, Renato Sanches, Leroy Fer, Angel Rangel and Bony are all still sidelined, with manager Carlos Carvalhal set to shuffle his pack.
West Brom v Swansea Preview and Predictions
First team coach Darren Moore will fill in for the dismissed Pardew for this game, and potentially until the end of the season, depending on results.
The Baggies chances of avoiding the drop are getting slimmer by the week, but with club legend Moore in charge this weekend, they will be hoping for something of a bounce effect against Swansea.
The Welsh side have lost their last two games, and despite Carvalhal's excellent work in steering the club away from relegation, they are not fully safe just yet.
With a new man in the dugout, West Brom will be hopeful of ending a eight game losing streak in the Premier League, however against an organised Swansea side they are likely to have to settle for a draw - priced at 21/10.
Given West Brom's dismal form they have unsurprisingly not scored many in recent weeks, with three goals in their last four games, and Swansea have fared little better, netting four in their last four matches.
With that in mind, an under 2.5 goals bet looks to be a strong option here - priced at 8/13.
Recommended Bets
A 1-1 draw at 11/2
West Brom are in need of points if they are to pull off the miracle of avoiding relegation, and Swansea will be happy just to not get beat, and continue the work of building towards Premier League safety this season.
Salomon Rondon to score first at 9/2
Rondon scored three the last time West Brom beat Swansea, and he has been their best goal source in recent weeks, scoring two in his last four appearances. He is also West Brom's joint leading scorer this season, with nine goals, alongside Jay Rodriguez.
