West Brom v Watford Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 26, 2017
The Hawthorns - Premier League
West Brom are in dire need of victory and might restore Salomon Rondon to the starting line-up after bringing the powerful striker off the bench in the last two games. Brimming with confidence, Watford will look to maintain their 100% away record.
Last season each side won their home fixture with a two goal cushion, Albion by 3-1 at the Hawthorns. The previous season saw only one goal in the two games, Ben Watson scoring to give the Hornets the points at West Brom, who missed two penalties.
Watford’s Nathaniel Chalobah is out with a knee injury. Mauro Zarate could be involved after playing for Watford’s Under 23s against QPR but they remain without Younes Kaboul, Craig Cathcart and Daniel Prodl.
Albion remain without Oliver Burke but could have Nacer Chadli in contention.
West Bromwich Albion v Watford Preview and Predictions
The Baggies are 17/13 to win with Watford 25/9. The draw is 23/10.
Out of form West Brom will be wary of Watford’s 100% away record. Watford have scored twice in each of their victories at Bournemouth, Southampton and Swansea, conceding just a single goal.
Watford’s most notable result so far has been the eye-catching 0-6 home defeat at the hands of rampant Manchester City. That has been the exception to the rule though as that is their only league loss.
Each team have three clean sheets from six games but Watford average 1.5 goals per game compared to Albion’s 0.67 strike rate. West Brom have conceded a goal a game, which is 0.67 better than Watford but don’t let that fool you, Watford’s record is skewed by City’s six goal haul.
West Brom were unlucky at Arsenal on Monday night where big decisions went against them but they aren’t on a good run. The last two home games have been disappointing draws. Held to a goalless stalemate by struggling West Ham, previously they had drawn 1-1 with Stoke while this week’s defeat at Arsenal followed up a poor 3-1 loss at Brighton. After starting with three wins, including one in the Carabao Cup, West Brom are now without a win in five in all competitions.
Two goal Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure are the only Golden Boys with more than one goal to their names as they have shared the goals around. No-one has more than one goal for West Brom so far.
Watford to win 2-0 at 17/1
West Brom struggle in front of goal and Watford have scored twice in every away game. Terrific odds for the sequence to continue.
Watford to win 2-1 at 14/1
Another highly likely score-line with very tempting odds. West Brom are always likely to score from a set-piece but are out of form while Watford have been excellent away.
