West Ham United v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
March 26, 2019
London Stadium - Premier League
This weekend’s Saturday evening Premier League fixture sees West Ham welcome Everton to the London Stadium for what could be an intriguing match. The Hammers are in good form at home, but the Toffees had a wonderful result in their last match before the international break.
West Ham have won the last two meetings between the teams 3-1. That was the score at Goodison Park in November, and at the London Stadium on the final day of last season. Everton won their home game 4-0 last term, so it’s not exactly all been one way traffic in this fixture recently.
Andy Carroll is sidelined with yet another injury, as he looks set to be on his way out of West Ham this summer. He’s keeping four long term absentees company on the treatment tables, with Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko out for the season. Winston Reid could play again this term though, along with Jack Wilshere.
Toffees boss Marco Silva has fitness worries over three defenders for this game. Yerry Mina is out, while Lucas Digne and Phil Jagielka are both doubts. Apart from that, Andre Gomes is the only other player giving the manager sleepless nights. The midfielder has been performing well of late, but is rated as 50/50 for this game due to a knock.
West Ham United v Everton Preview and Predictions
West Ham come into this game on the back of three successive victories at the London Stadium, scoring nine goals in those matches. Everton meanwhile were no doubt disappointed with the timing of the international break after they recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Chelsea in their last fixture.
The Hammers were also mightily impressive on their last outing, albeit only for the final 15 minutes. 3-1 down at home to bottom club Huddersfield, substitute Javier Hernandez scored twice to hand the Irons a dramatic 4-3 victory, including a 91st minute winner. That followed wins against Newcastle and Fulham on home soil, although Manuel Pellegrini’s side slipped to a disappointing defeat against Cardiff in their last away game.
The Toffees meanwhile recovered from a poor first half performance of their own just before the break. Marco Silva must’ve come up with a pretty tidy team talk in the dressing room at half-time of their game against Chelsea, as his players were completely transformed in the second period. Everton remain wildly inconsistent though, while their only away victory over a team in the top 10 came at Leicester in October.
With that in mind, and West Ham’s impressive display in this fixture earlier in the season, the away win might be a bit of a stretch at 15/8. A draw would be a decent enough result for the visitors, and that’s priced at 23/10, with the home win at 8/5.
Both teams to score at 7/10
West Ham’s last game saw seven goals, while there was five in Everton’s last away fixture. Each of the last three meetings between the sides have seen four goals.
Score draw at 7/2
There isn’t much to choose between these two teams, and this bet could prove to be excellent value at these odds.
