West Ham v Cardiff City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
December 03, 2018
London Stadium - Premier League
West Ham welcome a resurgent Cardiff side to the London Stadium in midweek round of Premier League fixtures ahead of the Christmas period.
West Ham beat the Bluebirds three times in league and League Cup action in the Welsh side's first ever Premier League season, back in 2013-14. They also famously beat them in both legs of the 2011-12 Championship play-off semi final, making it six wins in a row for the Hammers.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has injury concerns in defence, with Aaron Cresswell and Fabian Balbuena, both rated as doubtful for this clash after picking up injuries in the win over Newcastle.
Ryan Fredericks, Andriy Yarmolenko, Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez and Manuel Lanzini remain long term absentees.
Cardiff are also set to be missing defenders for this game, with Greg Cunningham and Jazz Richards both already ruled out, alongside Kenneth Zohore.
West Ham v Cardiff City Predictions and Preview
Cardiff have turned their form around in recent weeks, with three wins in their last six Premier League games, after no victory in their first eight games back in the top flight.
However all of those wins came at home, and they have lost all but one of their away games so far this season, and that will be a concern against in for West Ham.
Pellegrini's side have lost just once in their last four games, to Manchester City, with impressive wins over Burnley and Newcastle in that run of games.
Despite Cardiff's upturn, it is difficult to see past a midweek home win here - which is priced at 7/10.
West Ham netted four in their win over Burnley and three against Rafael Benitez's Newcastle, and they will be looking to get on the attack as quickly as possible in front of their home fans, with a West Ham win and over 1.5 total goals in the game available at 21/20.
West Ham to win 2-0 at 8/1
The Hammers have been efficient in front of goal in recent weeks, scoring in five of their last six games in league and cup action. They will be looking to keep their run going with a win here, which would see them potentially move up to 11th in the Premier League table.
Felipe Anderson to score anytime at 15/8
Brazilian midfielder Anderson is in fine form currently, with four goals in his last four appearances for West Ham. Even with the threat of Marko Arnautovic and the form of Javier Hernandez, Anderson consistently looks to be the biggest forward threat for Pellegrini's side.
