West Ham v Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
December 06, 2017
London Stadium - Premier League
Chelsea need to put the disappointment of failing to win their Champions League group behind them, as they face West Ham in the Saturday lunchtime kick off. Antonio Conte shouldn’t have to do too much to get his players fired up for this grudge match at the London Stadium.
Chelsea have won six of the last nine Premier League meetings between the sides, including two 2-1 victories last term. West Ham did knock the Blues out of the League Cup last season at the London Stadium, but it was an understrength Chelsea team.
David Moyes has a total of eight players who remain a doubt for this game. The likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Michail Antonio face late fitness tests, while there have been reports that Joe Hart could be dropped for Spanish stopper Adrian.
For Chelsea, David Luiz looks set to continue his absence from the side, after missing Tuesday’s draw against Atletico Madrid. Marcos Alonso and Antonio Rudiger should return to the starting lineup, while Conte must choose between the guile of Cesc Fabregas and the work rate of Danny Drinkwater in central midfield.
West Ham v Chelsea Preview and Predictions
Chelsea have an opportunity to draw level on points with second placed Manchester United ahead of their meeting with Manchester City. West Ham meanwhile are languishing in the relegation zone, but an improbable victory would do wonders for their season.
Few will give the Hammers much of a chance going into this one, as the David Moyes era still waits for its first victory. Irons fans have seen their new boss claim just a single point from four Premier League matches, although they pushed league leaders City close last time out. Despite this they go into the game against London rivals Chelsea as heavy underdogs, and they’re available at 13/2 in the betting.
The visitors meanwhile have won six of their last seven in the league, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Although they’re 11 points off top spot, there’s the chance to gain some ground on either United or City this weekend with the Manchester derby on Sunday. Eden Hazard is back to his very best, and with plenty of able backup, Chelsea should have too much for West Ham. The Blues are priced at 8/15 for the win, while the draw’s 10/3.
Chelsea to win 2-1 and Hazard to score first at 25/1
Back Chelsea to record another 2-1 win over their rivals, as Hazard continues his fine run of form.
One goal winning margin at 8/5
This bet would’ve paid out in the last six meetings between these two teams.
