West Ham v Tottenham Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 19, 2017
London Stadium - Premier League
The weekend’s Premier League action kicks off with a London derby, as West Ham host Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick off. The visitors have been very inconsistent so far this season, while the Hammers are looking to record successive home wins.
Home advantage has been crucial in recent games between the teams, with the hosts winning the last four in a row. In this fixture last season, a second half goal from Manuel Lanzini was enough to secure the points for West Ham, while a late double from Harry Kane prevented the same outcome in the game at White Hart Lane.
Unfortunately for West Ham after his influence last season, Lanzini’s expected to be out for the next month. The Argentine playmaker’s struggling to recover from a knee injury that’s restricted him to just 45 minutes of football this season. James Collins is also out for a month with an ankle injury, although Mark Noble should be fit after a knee problem.
Tottenham continue to be without key men Erik Lamela, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose. The latter’s likely to miss another month of action, and his absence along with the loss of Kyle Walker seems to be hurting Spurs a lot. Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies will continue in the meantime, but more’s expected of the promising duo.
West Ham v Tottenham Preview and Predictions
After both teams have suffered at their new homes, this game’s a chance for Tottenham to pick up three valuable points on the road. West Ham have finally got their season going after the international break though, and are looking to climb as far away from the relegation zone as possible as quickly as they can.
The Hammers revelled in the fact that they ended Tottenham’s title challenge last season, and they need the London Stadium to be rocking once more. After taking four points from their last two games, some of the pressure on Slaven Bilic has been relieved, but defeat in this fixture wouldn’t go down well with the locals. West Ham start the game as underdogs in the betting, and you can back them as long as 5/1.
While the odds on a home win are pretty decent, Spurs are only available at 13/20 for the victory. As well as revenge, they need the win to keep up with the pace being set at the top of the table by the Manchester clubs. Lose on Saturday and Mauricio Pochettino’s team could find themselves eight points from the top already. If you think that this London derby will end with honours even, the odds are 16/5.
Tottenham to win to nil at 19/10
Back Spurs to pick up the three points, as Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez struggle to gel up front for the hosts.
West Ham to win 1-0 at 18/1
Or bet on the Hammers to claim another 1-0 win over Spurs, just like they did last season.
